London photographer
Capturing the people, places and fleeting moments that makes London so unique.
About Clare
All my life I have loved photography – both taking photographs and going to photographic exhibitions and learning from the photographs of others such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Don McCullin, Annie Liebovitz and especially Bill Cunningham (1929-2016) who particularly interests me now for his street photography.
However, it was during the Pandemic lockdown in March 2020 that I started taking a much keener interest in my own photography. London was deserted and I found myself walking through the eerily quiet streets and parks with a growing and instinctive interest in the composition of a photograph and particularly light on water, reflections and the shapes and dimensions of architecture.
I was thrilled to win the Evening Standard Lockdown in London 2021 competition, which led me to publish London Silenced under my then name, Clare Tollemache - a collection of photographs capturing London during this extraordinary period.
This in turn has led to ideas to exhibit some of my photographs. Let’s see what happens! Meanwhile, I keep walking and taking photographs…
